He is head of the department for Ecosystem Research and Environmental Information Management which focus on long term ecosystem monitoring, spatial data infrastructures and environmental indicators. Being landscape ecologist by training he currently especially deals with fostering access to in-situ data from long term ecosystem monitoring for environmental assessments.
